The last performance was a ghazal mehfil. In some ways, it was perhaps too traditional, I think the performers need to have some expectations moved before they commit to the creative process. However, Sheniz is pure talent-in-the-raw, Gauri is a very brilliant mature artist, and both Santosh and Tanya are very gifted musicians. The end results were very good.
I was completely thrilled with the attendees. We had a knowledgeable crowd of artists in a very wide variety of genres. We had some ghazal rasik/adabi types, and some more avant-garde sensibilities.
We also had the best possible weather, just a light scattering of rain part way through that wet the canopy but not the audience, and enough wind to remind people that they were outside.
